In 2018 Cardinal Bagnasco described the encyclical as a “beacon for true love” and stressed that although circumstances may influence subjective perception, they do not change the objective nature of moral principles. He reiterated its relevance in the context of human dignity and Catholic morality and has given no indication that he wants it revisited.
