In 2021, Cardinal Hollerich sent a letter to all the heads of the European institutions exhorting European leaders to comply with a list of concrete ecological demands. He advocates “ecological conversion” in line with Laudato Si and has said that he had begun his conversion by making environmentally-conscious choices, avoiding plastic bottles and switching to a hybrid car.
