Cardinal Pizzaballa has not commented on the issue of admitting women to the diaconate. However, he has said the “constant and clear reference” for the Church’s stance on an all-male priesthood is “faith, history and Tradition.” In this context, he has also stressed the importance of not harming relations with the Orthodox.
