Cardinal Ryś has always cited current Church discipline and teaching on the issue. In keeping with Pope John Paul II’s Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, he has stated that the sacrament of ordination to the presbyterate is reserved only to men in the Church, and the Church has no authority to change this.
