Cardinal Scola has been clear about not allowing civilly remarried divorcees receive Holy Communion, except on the basis stated in Pope St. John Paul II’s apostolic exhortation, Familiaris Consortio. He has not criticized Amoris Laetitia directly, but has said it was not the first instance of the Church showing “attention” and “sensitivity” to divorced Catholics.
